Ball Park American Condo
This project was located in the beautiful Ballparc American building located in the Nob Hill district of Portland, The 1911 building featured antique style cable phones and elevators with steel scissor gates.
Working in downtown condominiums can be challenging with restricted hours of work, limited entrances and elevator access, and finding suitable parking for daily tool and materials deliveries. The staff at Conrad Construction have completed full renovations on many downtown Portland Condominiums. The various challenges that come with these projects are easily overcome with proper planning and scheduling. We have a great track record of completing these projects with top tier results.
The building holds much historic charm and we wanted to preserve that. We stayed simple with a period suitable white and black tile scheme. 1" diamond black and white tile on the floor and 6" subway tiles on the walls and tub surround. Black pencil liners were used for breaking up the monotony of stark white walls while adding an element of detail to a simple pallet. Black base tile was added around the floor.
The sink is a pedestal with a simple base. Pedestals match the style of the early 1900s while also saving on space. With no vanity to add storage, we had to be creative. We utilized a previously unused chase behind the shower to add a large built in cabinet. The claw foot tub was replaced with a large soaking tub, making better use of the underutilized bath alcove. This was a touch of modern luxury added to the vintage design.
This full renovation was a pleasure to work on. We love the many historical Portland homes and buildings we are accustomed to remodeling.
