5250 Willis Avenue is an original craftsman home that needed an
interior remodel and exterior facelift. The floor plan was modified
to provide an open concept kitchen/dining, to add a powder bath &
utility room, and to create a variety of storage solutions throughout.
The 1400 sf bungalow took on a modern-craftsman duality, through
the preservation of craftsman trim details with a minimalist
application and modern finishes.

The home was gutted to the framing, gaining all new interior finishes,
fixtures, and electrical. The original hardwoods were preserved and
refinished. Some of the existing windows were kept intact as an
homage to the history of the structure, while the rest were replaced
to meet the energy needs of the home.

During the process of refinishing the beadboard ceiling at the front
porch, the distressed appearance struck a chord with the owners who
decided to keep the rustic feel by sealing it as-is.
