Gold Net-Zero Homes
Morgan Keefe Builders attained net-zero certification in January 2018 through our nonprofit’s Green Built Homes program.
Representing the newest level of Green Built Homes certification, these net-zero energy homes not only meet all the requirements of the general certification checklist (which has above-code standards for materials use, site sustainability, water conservation, indoor air quality, and appliances), but also include enough renewable-energy features (typically in the form of solar photovoltaics) to achieve a HERS rating of 15 or lower.Some of the green aspects of this home are:
• HERS 6
• Drought-resistant landscaping
• Geothermal heating and cooling
• Formaldehyde-free and low-VOC finishes
• Local materials
• Photovoltaic system
