Takapuna Kitchen

In this redesign, Toni Roberts took inspiration from the existing home’s architecture being reminiscent of the form of a Maori whare and the site’s generous surrounds of native garden. The intention of the design was to create a kitchen that sits in harmony with these elements, delivering a sophisticated yet unpretentious space, designed with superb functionality.

Natural hues abound in this space with the colour scheme taking its inspiration from the gorgeous outdoor vista that adjoins the home. Resene’s Half Napa complements the CaesarStone Ginger quartz benchtops. The dark-stained USA Oak adds a striking contrast to an otherwise muted palette.

For the media unit, another dark oak is face mounted and appears suspended. The glossy finish reflects its more formal location. Open shelves were incorporated for a book collection and media appliances while flush drawers store CDs, the telephone and car keys.
