Three generous benchtops deliver ample useable space. The custom-laminated bamboo tops provides warmth and a distinctive grain, while the triple-panel rhythm and furniture-style island and dresser add a subtle French flavour.

To provide much-needed storage, the laundry was converted into a scullery, with extra benchtop space and an oversized sink. The scullery also discreetly houses the fridge/freezer and microwave. A neutral, organic colour palette was chosen to open up the space, punctuated only by the jet-black stove against dark tiles. The dark tones of the stove ‘block’ heighten the low ceiling and imitates the retained fireplace and blackboard.

While appearing to be two separate drawers on the island, one large wide drawer opens up with wraps, small baking utensils carefully divided inside. Below, the two especially thick doors open to reveal 2 of 3 inner pullout drawers organised for the optimum heights of cooking gadgetry.

While the scullery houses the majority of food items, the more essential oils and spices are nearer the cook's preparation zone. Not opened is the double Hideaway rubbish system.
